After a kickstart in Delhi, the 2nd of the series of NEO workshop was held in Mumbai on 5th March 2011 at Hotel The Lalit, Intercontinental in Mumbai. The National Energy Efficiency (NEO) Outreach Programme is jointly organized by Glazing Society of India (GSI) and Centre for Environment and Planning Technology (CEPT).

NEO Mumbai brought together the different stakeholders including Architects, Energy and Façade Consultants, Members from Industry and Government, academia to understand the need and importance of the implementation of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) developed by Bureau of Energy Efficiency.


Mr R Subramanian, Chairman, Glazing Society of India welcomed the participants and said that the NEO would address the need to promote Energy Efficiency in Building Envelopes and thereby achieving healthier economy, cleaner environment and energy security in the Nation.

He also thanked Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Shakthi Sustainable Energy Foundation for their valuable support to NEO.






Prof Rajan Rawal, Head, UG Program, Faculty of Design Coordinator, Centre for Sustainable Environment and Energy, CEPT University was the anchor presenter for the day covered the key aspects of ECBC in Building Envelopes and the role of HVAC and lighting systems in Energy Efficiency.

 

Other key speakers for the day were, Mr N Sriram, Design Engineer, Saint Gobain Glass India Limited and Mr Abdulkader Bengali, Head – Sales and Marketing, Indian Subcontinent, Owens Corning.

 

Participants were highly appreciative about the innovative case study session in the afternoon and the NEO Mumbai was highly interactive and informative.

With over 75 encouraging and enthusiastic participants the second in the Series of NEO in India was a remarkable success.
