Energy Efficient Hotel With Sky Gardens - Hotel PARKROYAL On Pickering, Singapore.

Parkroyal on Pickering, located in central Singapore is designed as a hotel and office featuring a number of sky gardens positioned between blocks of guest rooms. The building can be described as a hotel and office within a garden - a very novel and original concept that incorporates energy-saving features throughout the property.

This amazing construction with sustainable architectural features was designed by WOHA Architects. Modelled on the topography of natural landscapes, this building has won a number of prestigious awards for its architecture and sustainable features including the Solar Pioneer Award for its innovative use of solar energy system.

Parkroyal Hotel houses 367 rooms amidst lush green sky gardens, reflecting pools, waterfalls, and balconies with tropical plants. By providing plant-covered balconies and terraces around the exterior, the hotel is able to provide every guest a garden view from their room window. The landscapes are designed to be self-sustaining and do not bank too much on resources. Rainwater is collected from upper floors to irrigate planters on the lower floors. Photovoltaic cell arrays on the roof provide power for lighting.

Sustainable features are applied at practically all aspects of the building right from the ground floor to the fifth. Greenery seems to seep into the interiors beginning with the entrance and extending to all floors. Green features are depicted in the form of green valleys and waterfalls with enough natural light and fresh air within various areas of the hotel. The landscaped terrace is well structured with greenery around it and provides unobstructed views of the city. The sky park on the fifth-floor needs special mention due to its infinity pool, gym, running track and timber ‘bird cage’ pavilions, party rooms that appear to float on the pool. The interior spaces like the corridors, lobbies and common areas are designed as garden spaces with a natural ambience infused with natural light and fresh air.

The hotel features probably the world’s first ‘zero-energy’ sky gardens.

This seems to be a wonderful hotel in Singapore. However, I have a slight fear of heights. Book Hotel Singapore http://hotels.sgbooking.com/
