Glass Wall Panelling

28 Sep 2012

Sunlight inside the room makes it feel larger, brighter and more natural. The presence of light is an essential factor in interior design. Glass can allow natural light through while providing privacy, unlike other building materials that can be used for walls and glass partitions. Modern home interiors are starting to use glass in unique ways. Glass is no longer confined to the standard windows and splashbacks – it can now be used on entire walls, creating a unique feature that makes the house look absolutely stunning.

Energy efficiency .

Having adequate amount of natural light inside the home will also result in considerable amount of energy saving. Glass walls allow light to pass through the rooms and hence increase the availability of natural lighting. Glass becomes the ideal solution for dividing spaces and it also acts as a design element in creating different ambiences within home. Glass is instrumental in making the best use of sunlight and hence minimizing the need for artificial lighting which in turn results in reducing the energy bills. Also walls made of thermal insulation glass will help to maintain the temperature and thus reducing the heating/cooling costs involved.

Low-maintenance

Glass walls involve low-maintenance costs. Self-cleaning glasses are now available, that are low-maintanance and stay clean by themselves. Painted walls require repainting every few years to remove the scratches and hand marks. Glass walls don’t involve such costs. They don’t get scratches and the handprints can be wiped off easily. In high-traffic areas dust and grime getting accumulated in the walls can be easily cleaned with common cleaners if it was glass. Usually they are installed as large pieces without seams which reduce the need for scrubbing along the grout lines.

Laminated glass walls

Toughened or laminated glass brings in the light and a high level of safety. In case of breakage, this glass breaks into small pieces and stays within its location causing no damage to the occupants. Laminated glass is also available in different levels of transparencies.

Glass Brick walls .

Glass brick walls are another great optionfor the interiors to provide privacy along with natural lighting. They are mostly used as glass partitions and always increase the feeling of space. Glass blocks privacy in terms of noise as well. It is almost impossible to see through and hear through glass blocks. Like other glass products, glass bricks are very easy to maintain and involves less cleaning. Glass brick walls are energy efficient; when installed properly. Increasing amount of natural light provides a better experience for the building occupants.

Glass walls not only provide better experience but also give an aesthetic touch to the interiors. Go green with glass walls!
