SGG Nano Green was chosen for several reasons; performance, being only one”

Ar. Niteen Parulekar, Design Director, Niteen Parulekar Architects Pvt. Ltd. talks about why he chose SGG Nano Green for the prestigious Motilal Oswal Towers project in Mumbai

Reminiscing over his association with the landmark project, Motilal Oswal Towers in Mumbai, Ar.Niteen Parulekar says “The building, being in Central Mumbai, the visibility level is very high. The client seemed divided between a design that was conservative and yet out-of-the-box. We came up with a design inspired by a lantern; the building has glass fins wrapped around it that gives it a rather interesting profile. The idea was to make the building look taller and by adding the fins around the glass, we were able to achieve that.

The other interesting aspect of the building is the use of LED lighting for the exteriors. When the building is lit up with LED in the nights, it gives a different feel altogether; in fact, it really looks glamourous. For the interiors too, we wanted to bring in a 'wow' factor, and we did so by designing an atrium with skylights. That proved to be an interesting space for the client and they use it extensively, for almost all their functions.

After a lot of deliberation, SGG Nano Green was chosen for several reasons. Primarily, of course, for the performance of the glass and the way light reflects on it. Looking at its performance over the course of the day, we are very satisfied with the kind of effect that it has.

The fact that I have used Saint-Gobain glass for all my projects goes to show that I am very happy. A lot of projects are coming my way that show great promise to translate into iconic structures in glass. I also take away from this project, pleasant memories of client participation and passion, and although the project was executed in record time, I still carry with me each and every moment that went into it. “
